The exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War. Its main theme is War and Literature.
The Literature in the four-year period of War has become one of the most vivid evidences of life and struggle. It captured the «nerve of time», the changing and unchangeable in the minds of the belligerent people, emotional perception of events, the attitude change throughout the various stages of the war. The writers published anthologies and collections, opened hospitals at their own expense; they also organized charity events in aid of the wounded, prisoners of war and families of the victims, actively participated in the work of magazines.
Publications, anthologies and periodical literature released during the war are represented at the exhibition as a reminder about this activity.
