Mikhail Matyushin as a photographer

The exhibition displays photographs made by Mikhail Matyushin – artist, musician and composer. The most part of these photos are dedicated to the second wife of the artist, Elena Guro.
The exhibition introduces one of the interests of the artist, composer, musician and a representative of the St. Petersburg avant-guard Mikhail Matyushin - photography. The exhibition presents photographs of the early XXth century from two family albums, composed by Mikhail Matyushin and his last wife Olga Matyushina (Gromozova), from the collection of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg. Most of the photos from the album have never been published before. The exhibition is composed with paintings and graphics of the artist.
According to the existing historical evidence Mikhail Matyushin became interested in photography since the early 1900s. Photos he made are interesting because of the well-chosen nature, high skills of composite arrangement and the ability to describe mood.
