The exhibition is dedicated to the Leningrad theater poster as a special genre of graphics and an element of the urban environment. Since late 50s and till 80s, the culture of the spectacular poster, primarily theatrical, that was paused in the 1940s, revived and flourished again. The vivid graphic posters created for the Kirov Opera and Ballet Theater, the Mussorgsky Maly Opera and Ballet Theater, the Comedy Theater, the Bolshoi Puppet Theater, the Lensovet Theater and others became an integral part of cityscape. The exhibition features about 100 theater posters from the collection of the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg together with some scenery and costumes sketches, original theatre costumes and photographs.
