Metropolis. St. Petersburg. Project of Vladimir Seleznev.
from 22 September 2012 to 14 October 2012
The title of the project of Vladimir Seleznev refers to the famous film by Fritz Lang of 1927 - a German dystopia film in which an imaginary city is divided into two layers of life which never cross: the upper, where dwell the masters of life and lower - a black world of workers and machines. In his work the artist also shows us both sides of the metropolis. A pile of litter, which forms the city, represents the “dark” side of daily life, but when the picture “switches”, it turns into a romantic image that can be seen at night from a plane: a chain of lights mark the lines that represent avenues, illuminated spots are residential and factory areas .
Installation in terms of the 11th festival “Contemporary Art in Traditional Museum”.
