Exhibition of Vladimir Shinkarev

The exhibition of one of the founders of the movement “Mitki”, an artist and a writer Vladimir Shinkarev presents the illustrations he created for the new edition of his book “Maxim and Fyodor”.
The exhibition presents works by Vladimir Shinkarev. The main items of this exhibition are the illustrations to the new edition of his cult book “Maxim and Fyodor” published by Vita Nova in 2012. The book was written by Vladimir Shinkarev in 1978-1980, soon became widely known and was one of the most popular editions of samizdat (the underground press).
Vladimir Shinkarev was born in 1954 in Leningrad. He finished courses at the MukhinaLeningrad Higher Industrial Arts School and the RepinLeningrad Institute for Painting,Sculpture and Architecture. He graduated from the Geological Faculty of the Zhdanov Leningrad State University. Since 1975 he participated in private apartment exhibitions. Since 1981 he is a Member of the Association of Experimental Fine Arts (TEII).
Vladimir Shinkarev is one of the founders of the group “Mitki”, publishing houses “Mitkilibris” (1994) and “Krasny Matros” (1995, for the latter he has illustrated over ten books), art center “Mitki-VHUTEMAS” (1996). He was co-editor of the publication “Mitki-newspaper” (1992-1993). In 2008 he publicly announced that he leaves the group “Mitki”.
Since 1991 he is a member of the International Federation of Artists (IFA), since 1993 - member of the A-Ya SocietyinSt. Petersburg, since 1994 - member of the Union of Russian Artists.
In the 1970-2000s works of Vladimir Shinkarev were displayed at numerous solo and group exhibitions in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Ust-Narva, Narva, Tampere, Jyvaskyla, Rovaniemi, Novosibirsk, Orel, Rio de Janeiro, Vienna, Paris, Antwerp, Cologne, Zurich, Oslo, Sopot, Cagliari, Milan, Los Angeles, New York, London, Berlin, Karlsruhe, Kiel and other cities.
