Exhibition of Artist association “4 elements”.
Peter and Paul Fortress, Postern and casemate of Gosudarev (Tsar’s) Bastion
Exhibition of Artist association “4 elements” presents more than 50 works from wood and other natural materials done by St Petersburg artists Alexander Bazarin, Rashid Dominov, Armen Gasparian, Alla Lipatova, Alexander Lytkin, Vera Pavlova, Alexander Pilko, Nikolai Reznichenko, Olga Syskova, Ivan Tarasiuk and others.
Creative union “4 elements” is a community of professional artists of St Petersburg, members of the Union of Artists of Russia, working in different forms, styles and techniques of visual arts. For several years the artists have been working on a project of design painting on wood which bears the same name - “4 elements”: they create separate themed collections that represent different elements - earth, water, air and fire. Idea of this project belongs to Vladislav Shumakov (1945-2010). Handcrafted wooden forms are painted in tempera, oil, acryl and decorated in stove enamel technique. Themed collections “Angels”, “Cats”, ‘Horses” and “Birds” had been displayed at exhibition halls of St Petersburg.
The exhibition “Fish-city” is a new project of artists, who captured their own dreams of St Petersburg on fish shaped wooden bases. When painted on the hypothetical surface of the fish “body”, recognizable images of the city, houses and quays are seen from a new angle. These works attract due to many factors: unexpected perspectives, original compositional solutions and yet unseen combinations.
