“Nature period of my work ends in the early postwar years. Nature becomes optional. The idea arises from the internal state of mind which suggests the situation and form of its expression and not from what can be seen, although it is also possible. This could be the motive of nature in a peaceful rest or with restless trees, a sad still-life painting depicting a crooked black bottle and, finally, a human face - not a portrait but a peculiar transformation of a thoughtful sculpture head or mask” –these are the words of the artist about his own works.
