The exhibition tells about the immense contribution of teachers and graduates of the university to the construction and improvement of St. Petersburg-Leningrad and to the formation of its unique architectural look over a period of 180 years.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 180th anniversary of St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, the former School of Civil Engineers. It tells about the immense contribution of teachers and graduates of the university to the construction and improvement of St. Petersburg-Leningrad and to the formation of its unique architectural look over a period of 180 years. The exhibited items are architectural models, photographs, drawings and documents related to the history of the university. Of particular value is a collection of architectural graphics from the collections of the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg: over 150 works of authorship- projects of St. Petersburg buildings and structures, done by the graduates of this famous School of Architecture and Civil Engineering in 1860-1980s. Most of these projects have been carried out.
The St. Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering (SPbGASU) is the oldest Russian higher education technical training institution for architectural professionals. Its history is closely connected with the history of architecture and urban development of our country and especially St. Petersburg.
On the 9 May, 1832 the School of Civil Engineers of the Chief Administration for Lines of Communication and Public Buildings was founded by a decree of Emperor Nicholas I. Since 1842 it was called a Building School and it was merged with the Architectural School, which worked at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1877 the school received the status of a higer education institution and in 1882 it was renamed into Institute of Civil Engineers. During the Soviet times the School repeatedly changed names and received the modern name - SPbGASU - in 1993.
The exhibition at the Rumyantsev Mansion presents projects of apartment houses, private residences, public and religious buildings, hospitals, railway stations and bridges performed by the graduates of the institution during the pre-revolutionary period.
