85 Years of Bus Transport in St Petersburg

Exhibition is organized together with Municipal Transportation Company Passazhiravotrans to celebrate 85th anniversary of public transport bus service in Leningrad-St. Petersburg. Over 100 exhibits tell about the history of bus transport in St Petersburg. More than ten models of buses and photographs of 1930s – 2000s chart the development of bus transport in St Petersburg within 85 years. Paintings and drawings of the 1950s – 1960s show the role of the buses in daily life of the local citizens. Development of bus transport services led to the implementation of various types of infrastructure: bus stops, stations, and terminals. Exhibition includes original designs of a type bus station and a bus terminal, and photographs from the opening of bus stations on Sennaya Square in 1957 and on Obvodny Canal in 1963.
The exhibition includes the items, connected with public transport control system and passenger traffic control: bus stop identification signs, info posters, ticket-stamping machines, booking offices, samples of tickets, etc. All these items will remind of the recent past of the public transport: consuctorless transport, travel cards, first rapid transits. Uniform of the bus driver of the 1980s and the conductor’s bag of the 1960s – 1970s will be exhibited as well.
Special section of the display is dedicated to the Municipal Transportation Company Passazhiravotrans staff, who provide the everyday operation of public transport.
